Bishop's Annual Appeal

The Bishop's Annual Appeal is a primary source of funding to help sustain and expand ministries in the 96 parishes, 21 missions, and 34 Catholic schools and agencies throughout the diocese. As stewards of God's gifts, you are asked to support the needs of our diocese through your PRAYERS. You are also asked to share your TALENTS by volunteering for parish or diocesan ministries. Finally, all members of our diocese are asked to make a SACRIFICIAL GIFT through a pledge or a one-time donation.

Your gift to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal helps to sustain Catholic schools, parishes, programs of religious education and campus ministry, and initiatives to foster vocations as well as respect for life. Additionally, through its support of Catholic Charities, the Appeal serves people in South Carolina and abroad whose lives are affected by natural disasters, illnesses, hunger, and economic hardship.

Gift of Vocations

Dear Friends in Christ,

The seminarians, priests and retired priests serving in the Diocese of Charleston play a crucial role in leading our united diocesan family.  These men are called not only to share the joy of the Gospel, but also to help people appreciate the need for service and sacrifice.  They offer compassion, care and guidance asking only for prayers and a deepening sense of faith from their flock in return.  It is a privilege to support these exceptional men through the Bishop's Annual Appeal..  Your donation helps to cover these costs:

Ϯ Education of 22 Seminarians - $41,500 per year, per seminarian for six years

Ϯ Pension and Healthcare costs of 25 Retired Priests - $30,500 per year, per priest

Ϯ Continuing Education for Parish Priests

The tremendous gift of vocations requires substantial financial support.  Yet the return on investment is immeasurable.  To learn more about the men serving in our diocese, please take a moment to view this short Vocations video:

If you have already supported the Bishop's Annual Appeal, I thank you.  If you have not, please prayerfully consider a donation.  Every gift, no matter the size, is appreciated and expresses a commitment to our Church today and in the future.  Thank you for engaging deeply and meaningfully in the mission of the Church.  Together we are building His kingdom.

In the Lord’s Peace,

Most Reverend Robert E. Guglielmone | Diocese of Charleston
